Job Overview:
We are in search of an experienced Site Safety Specialist with a background in dry utility projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp of construction safety concepts and principles, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
· Implement and uphold all DIG health and safety policies, guidelines, and programs, in order to continue to grow and develop DIG’s safety first culture.
· Support various DIG job sites by conducting required safety training, including, but not limited to, trench excavation, rigging, heavy equipment operations, and fall protection.
· Manage site incident prevention programs, permits, confined spaces, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and other safety regulations.
· Conduct regular site audits of equipment, materials, work practices, and procedures.
· Develop and prepare safety work instructions, procedures, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) as needed.
· Perform daily audits and approve pre-task plans and JHAs.
· Conduct routine inspections to evaluate compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
· Assist with managing on-the-job injury (OJI) protocols, including injury claims management, communication with Workers Comp carriers, and coordination with medical facilities and treatment specialists.
· Promptly address and document safety violations by DIG personnel, including DIG subcontractors.
· Provide ongoing safety and health training and required certifications for employees and new hires.
· Reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
· Identify and assess potential accident and loss conditions, and evaluate the potential extent of injuries.
· Educate team members on accident-prevention and loss-control systems, integrating them into operational policies.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
· At least 2 years of proven Environmental Health & Safety experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
· Experience working in a multi-site organization is a plus.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience with OSHA standards.
· Possess applicable OSHA certifications. OSHA 500 certification with the ability to train and certify employees in OSHA 10 and OSH 30 is preferred.
· Strong understanding of construction processes. The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications is a plus.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass a federal background check.
· Strong alignment with company values, emphasizing safety and quality.
· Familiarity with construction industry practices, materials, and methods.
