Job Overview:

The Project Manager (PM) oversees key client construction projects from planning through completion. The PM is responsible for providing leadership, mentoring colleagues, managing project schedules and finances, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and maintaining professional and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

The PM plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the estimating, field and office teams to create project schedules and identify long lead items, while maintaining responsibility for overall project management.
  • Negotiate subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and material delivery schedules to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and other stakeholders, managing expectations and addressing concerns to maintain strong, positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project performance using detailed project schedules and other internal tools and identify, report and escalate issues as needed to achieve company goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance, ensuring work is completed according to contract terms, quality standards, and on schedule.
  • Resolve conflicts and implement effective problem-solving strategies to minimize disruptions to schedules and revenue.
  • Track and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs while adhering to company procedures.
  • Report project financials, schedule, change orders, and any other critical updates to the executive leadership team on a weekly basis, ensuring transparency and alignment with company goals.
  • Work with the Safety Department to actively monitor and enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring compliance with both company policies and industry regulations, to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Oversee the quality of work being completed, ensuring all tasks meet the required standards and specifications. Address quality issues promptly to maintain project integrity.
  • Ensure all project-related documentation is properly maintained, including contracts, permits, change orders, and project updates, and submit required reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including final invoicing and documentation submission.
  • Mentor and develop a strong team of colleagues using a collaborative approach to delegate responsibilities while allowing for their personal growth.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility installation, site development, or working for a relevant general contractor or engineering firm.
  • Strong understanding of construction principles and processes, with the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as familiarity with MS Project required. Experience with Bid2Win, ViewPoint, SmartSheet, Procore, Helix and BlueBeam Revu is desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass federal background check.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed to complete project responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction projects, including walking on uneven surfaces, working at heights, and climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed to complete the tasks of this position.
