Job Overview:

The Project Engineer (PE) oversees the day-to-day administration of multiple construction projects, working closely with Project Managers and Superintendents. The PE organizes and maintains project documents to include submittals, RFIs, schedules, contract compliance and material tracking. Must be highly organized and detailed oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time.

Responsibilities:

The PE plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the estimating, field and office teams to create project schedules as well as identify and track long lead items.
  • Organize and understand subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and material delivery schedules.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for vendors and suppliers, managing expectations and addressing concerns to maintain strong, positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project performance by updating project schedules and other internal tools to identify and report issues as needed to the PM.
  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance, ensuring work is completed according to contract terms, quality standards, and on schedule.
  • Identify conflicts and implement effective problem-solving strategies to minimize disruptions to schedules and revenue.
  • Track and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs while adhering to company procedures.
  • Work with the Safety Department to actively monitor and enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring compliance with both company policies and industry regulations, to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Monitor the quality of work being completed, ensuring all tasks meet the required standards and specifications. Identify quality issues promptly to maintain project integrity.
  • Organize all project-related documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, project updates, and closeout documentation.
  • Attend project specific meetings, taking accurate and complete notes as well as creating action items and meeting minutes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Preferred 1 year of experience in the construction industry, military, or internships in a relevant field.
  • Ability and willingness to learn construction principles and processes required, with the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with Bid2Win, ViewPoint, SmartSheet, Procore, Helix, BlueBeam Revu, and MS Project highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass federal background check.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed to complete project responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction projects, including walking on uneven surfaces, working at heights, and climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed to complete the tasks of this position.
